Dysport vs Botox

Dysport consists of the same basic ingredient as Botox. However, the effects of Dysport are said to last approximately 2-4 weeks longer and take effect in 2-3 days post treatment instead of 6-7 days for Botox. Dysport first made an appearance in the early 90s as a treatment for muscle spasms in the UK. After it was discovered that Dysport could effectively remove wrinkles and facial creases, the treatment was distributed in Europe and several other countries around the world for its cosmetic uses. Dysport was the original brand name given to the formula, which, like Botox, uses the botulinum toxin type A to eliminate wrinkles. In 2006, Dysport’s joined the U.S. pharmaceutical manufacturor Medicis, the makers of Restylane and Perlane, and was approved for U.S. distribution in 2009.
